Jan 11, 2024 - Foothill Gold Line Leadership Stays in Place as 2024 Begins

At their January meeting today, Claremont Council Member Ed Reece and Glendora Mayor Mendell Thompson began a new year as Chair and Vice Chair (respectively) of the Foothill Gold Line Construction Authority Board of Directors, after being unanimously reelected last month by their peers. The two local elected officials lead the agency at a critical time. The westernmost 9.1-mile, four-station project segment from Glendora to Pomona is currently more than 80 percent complete with construction; and the agency is beginning the process to hire a design-build contractor to build the final 3.2-mile, two-station project segment that includes the Claremont and Montclair stations.

Jun 29, 2023 - Construction Authority Statement on Governor Newsom Signing 2023-24 State Budget with Full Funding for Transit Infrastructure

The Construction Authority believes the final budget with full funding restored for transit is good news for the Foothill Gold Line. In March, the Metro board unanimously affirmed completing the Foothill Gold Line to Claremont and Montclair as the agency’s first priority for any new state funding.

Jun 24, 2023 - Foothill Gold Line Celebrates Completion of Major Work for New Light Rail Track System

Today, the Foothill Gold Line Construction Authority (Construction Authority) held a Track Completion Ceremony to celebrate the completion of major work for the new light rail track system for the 9.1-mile, four-station Foothill Gold Line light rail project from Glendora to Pomona. The event culminated in the installation of the 230,630th rail clip (rail clips permanently attach the steel rail to the concrete railroad ties), officially completing major construction for the new light rail tracks, and permanently connecting the cities of Glendora, San Dimas, La Verne and Pomona via this new light rail line.

Mar 28, 2023 - Foothill Gold Line Light Rail Project Completes All Grade Crossing Reconstruction Work Requiring Long Term Street Closures – A Major Milestone

Today, the Foothill Gold Line Construction Authority (Construction Authority) announced that all grade crossing reconstruction work requiring long-term street closures for the project’s 21 at-grade (street level) crossings from Glendora to Pomona has now been completed. Today’s grade crossing milestone is a major achievement for the 9.1-mile, four-station Foothill Gold Line light rail project, which is more than two-thirds complete overall with construction.

Dec 28, 2022 - Foothill Gold Line Light Rail Project is Nearly Two-Thirds Complete as 2022 Closes

As 2022 comes to an end, the Foothill Gold Line Construction Authority (Construction Authority) announces that the 9.1-mile, four-station Foothill Gold Line light rail project from Glendora to Pomona is now nearly two-thirds complete. Major construction on the project began in July 2020 and, despite building in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the project continues to remain on budget and on schedule to be completed in early 2025, when it will be turned over to LA Metro for training and pre-revenue service (Metro determines when passenger service starts).

Oct 12, 2022 - Foothill Gold Line Board Welcomes New Member

At their October meeting today, the Foothill Gold Line Construction Authority (Construction Authority) Board of Directors welcomed its newest member – La Verne Mayor Tim Hepburn. Appointed by the city of Pasadena for a four-year term, Mayor Hepburn joined the nine-member board as its newest member following his swearing in at the beginning of the monthly board meeting. Montclair Mayor Pro Tem Bill Ruh was appointed as the Alternate member.

Jun 29, 2022 - Foothill Gold Line Releases New Video Detailing Construction of Largest Light Rail Bridge from Glendora to Pomona

The Foothill Gold Line Construction Authority (Construction Authority) today released a new and informative video, entitled: “Building the Lone Hill Ave. Light Rail Bridge.“ The video, which is now available on the Construction Authority’s website (foothillgoldline.org) and YouTube channel (youtube.com/foothillgoldline), provides an overview of the design and ongoing construction of the largest light rail bridge being built as part of the 9.1-mile, four-station Foothill Gold Line light rail project from Glendora to Pomona. Featured in the video are interviews with staff from the Construction Authority and the project’s design-builder, Kiewit-Parsons, a Joint Venture (KPJV), as well as commentary by Glendora Mayor Karen K. Davis and Foothill Gold Line Board Member and Glendora Council Member Mendell Thompson on the bridge and future light rail service coming into the city of Glendora.

Jun 17, 2022 - Foothill Gold Line Light Rail Project from Glendora to Pomona Reaches 50% Construction Completion

Today, the Foothill Gold Line Construction Authority (Construction Authority) held a press conference to celebrate the 9.1-mile, four-station Foothill Gold Line light rail project from Glendora to Pomona reaching 50% construction completion. The celebration took place at Rhoads Park in San Dimas, Calif., just steps away from the project corridor and one of four new light rail bridges being constructed to carry future light rail trains and passengers over major streets. Construction on the project began in July 2020 and, despite building in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, continues to remain on schedule to be completed in early 2025, when it will be turned over to LA Metro for training and pre-revenue service (Metro determines when passenger service starts).

At their January meeting today, Claremont Mayor Pro Tem Ed Reece and La Verne Council Member Robin Carder were sworn in as the incoming Chair and Vice Chair of the Foothill Gold Line Construction Authority (Construction Authority) Board of Directors, after being unanimously elected last month. The two local elected representatives will lead the agency at a critical time. The westernmost 9.1-mile, four-station project segment from Glendora to Pomona is currently undergoing major construction; while the Construction Authority seeks the additional funding needed to complete the final three miles of the project that include stations in Claremont and Montclair.
